The Arapahoe County Family Court Facilitators have advised us of the following:
Beginning in April we will no longer be meeting for ISCs in a group setting in room 347 of Court House 2. Rather, cases in which one or both parties are represented by attorneys will make appearances directly in Divisions 11 with Magistrate Fliss or Division 25 with Magistrate Slade. Even Numbered cases will be assigned to Division 25, and odd numbered cases to Division 11. I will be conducting ISCs for cases in which both parties are Pro Se in Division 20, on the second floor of Court House 2. ISCs set in the Magistrate Divisions will be given a setting on the half-hour, beginning at 8:30 through 10:00am on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. If both parties were Pro Se when the Petition was filed, and an attorney enters their appearance afterwards, they will have to contact the Judicial Assistant at 303 649 6374 to reset the ISC from the Court Facilitator’s docket to a Magistrate’s division – within the 42-day requirement of Rule 16.2. if a date is available; otherwise, the ISC will be conducted by the Family Court Facilitator. Pro Se parties will still be required to watch the video used to describe procedural aspects of their case. The new Notice of ISC we are using directs Pro Se parties to arrive 30 minutes before their ISC to watch the video in cases in which the other party is represented by an attorney. Magistrates conducting ISCs clearly have an expectation that attorneys would have discussed their case with opposing parties prior to the ISC so that time spent in the ISC can be used most productively. Attorneys are strongly encouraged to come to the ISC with any stipulations they would like entered as interim or temporary orders, even if stipulations are only partial agreements of more complex issues. We have made substantive changes to the Domestic Relations Case Management Order, the Order on Permanent Orders, delay prevention orders and the order for mediation to conform to the new time computation rules as well as making other changes, so review of these Orders when they are entered is also encouraged.
