Castle Rock lawyers Ernie Fazekas and Aaron Barrick of the law firm of Folkestad Fazekas Barrick & Patoile, P.C. (“FFBP”) appeared at the Castle Rock Town Council meeting on Tuesday, January 22, 2015 on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Castle Rock Park and Trails Foundation (the “Foundation”). The Foundation is promoting the development of Phase II of the Phillip S. Miller Park, a regional, legacy park, with completion of the core plaza, outdoor amphitheater and mill house. The park opened on October 25, 2014, upon completion of Phase I.
The original estimates for completion of Phase II have increased due to the improved economy and development in the construction industry, and there was some concern that the Town Council would eliminate certain amenities at the park or delay construction indefinitely. It is the Foundation’s vision to expand the P.S. Miller Park, and the entire park and trails system in Castle Rock for the benefit of all citizens of the town. The Foundation was concerned that delaying or diminishing the scope of the park would impact the momentum for donations and sponsorships from individuals and corporations with a similar vision. Fortunately, the Town Council was persuaded and agreed to increase the budget and proceed with Phase II as planned. The construction contracts have already been awarded with Phase II to proceed in February 2015. The Town Council also agreed to proceed with construction of the Wolfensberger pedestrian bridge in 2016 which will connect the PS Miller Park with the Meadows and the Ridgeline Open Space and trails system.
FFBP would like to thank the town staff and Town Council for its dedication and commitment to making Castle Rock a great place to live and work.
