The Douglas County edition of the Denver Post’s YOURHUB, recently featured Castle Rock lawyer Ernie Fazekas. Mr. Fazekas is a Senior Partner of the Douglas County law firm of Folkestad Fazekas Barrick & Patoile, P.C.
Ernie was featured for his attempt to expand and improve the parks and trails system in Castle Rock. Mr. Fazekas is a founding member and President of the newly formed Castle Rock Parks & Trails Foundation. The Castle Rock Parks & Trails Foundation seeks to raise funds and community support for town institutions like parks and trails beyond what the town can provide due to budget constraints. The Castle Rock Parks & Trails Foundation is comprised of a nine member board of directors. The Managing Partner of Folkestad Fazekas Barrick & Patoile, Aaron Barrick, is also a board member.
The Castle Rock Parks & Trails Foundation’s first project is to raise funds for the proposed 225-acre Phillip S. Miller Park, which could include an amphitheatre, play fields, playgrounds and an indoor recreation facility. The group is still in the process of obtaining the organization’s nonprofit status through the Internal Revenue Service so it can begin accepting donations.
Kristen Trbovich, a business analyst with Castle Rock’s Park and Recreation Department, stated that “Castle Rock is a world-class community and these community leaders understand the importance of a parks and trails foundation.” The group’s first fund raising event is a family-friendly 3.5-mile run called the LiveBIG Color Blast Dash slated for 9:30 a.m., September 21, 2013 at Metzler Ranch Park, 4175 Trail Boss Road in Castle Rock.
